What a crazy couple of months we have had around here, as Mama Lori got the ‘Rona in November. I could not taste or smell Thanksgiving dinner! Then this month one of our daughters (living at home) tested positive. (Two of our adult children have had it, too.) The past two months have been different….we’ve had to be on house arrest more than we would have liked. However, there is always good news and this month a small miracle happened in my life and it was one of those “Oh, wow, yes, there you are, Jesus,” moments and I thought I would share it with you because we need to share the LIGHT of Christ with each other, you know? Okay, so the back story: my son Eric and I joined forces several years ago to bring help and healing to the lives of families that were dealing with the devastation of p*rnography addiction. (If I spell that word correctly, some filtering systems won’t open this post!) We have a website, which runs on the funds we receive from our courses and our speaking engagements. Early in December, I checked our business bank account; we had only $21 in there, which sort of freaked me out. Because of Covid, we have given exactly zero presentations and we have been working on the second version of our course, which, for a variety of reasons, has taken longer than we thought it would. The result: No cash flow. How were we going to pay our monthly website bills? What to do? Well, as I got quiet about this situation, I thought of a “way of living” from either St. Faustina or St. Therese (please let me know if you know!) and she said that whenever she has a need, she simply goes to Jesus as if He is a clerk behind a desk; she fills out her need, hands it to Him on a piece of paper and then lets it go, knowing He will fill her request. I liked that imagery and I mentally put Jesus behind a customer service desk...and I wrote this in my journal: “Dear Jesus, by Dec. 13th we need $250. Please and thank You.” I didn’t freaky outy. I just put in my request and let it be. Several days later, I got a message from Eric, telling me that a teacher from a school had contacted him, asking us if we’d give a Zoom presentation to the junior high parents of that school on December 17th. My whole body smiled. However, there was a little hiccup: most schools pay us at the time of the presentation and some mail us a check AFTER we present. So, even though I was jacked about the unexpected cash that would come in, I knew we wouldn’t get it on time to pay the December bills, which were due on the 13th. I should not have worried. On December 12th I received a check from that school. People. They sent a check TO MY HOUSE five days before we even presented, which has never happened before. Yes, I smiled like a crazy woman as I went to the bank to deposit that glorious check into our account. But more was happening in my heart. I felt all of heaven pressing in on me, lavishing me. I was overwhelmed with the understanding, once more, that Jesus CAN meet every need. I just gotta turn to Him with total trust. Yes, there is a load of crazy going on in our world. It is intense and almost frightening at times. Yet. We have a Savior.
WE HAVE A SAVIOR. What I have to remember is that He didn’t show up as everyone predicted, guns blazing, with a huge army, outfitted to conquer the world. (I doubt Joseph was packing.) Jesus, the Deliverer of all mankind, came in the quiet, surrounded by the humble. And it was enough. He is enough. He can banish all evil with a flick of His Little Pinky. He can meet our needs with a nod of His Glorious Head. We have a Deliverer. Now pour yourself a cup of hot cocoa or warm eggnog and pull up a chair and let your soul be transformed by this fabulous video, Our Deliverer. P.S. The Parenting Dare 2.0 is almost done!
